SINGAPORE (ICIS)–Australian energy union umbrella group the Offshore Alliance (OA) said on 6 October it has voted to renew industrial action at Chevron’s Wheatstone and Gorgon LNG facilities alleging the company “reneged” on the commitment they gave the Fair Work Commission (FWC) to incorporate its mediated recommendations into enterprise agreements (EA) covering workers.
OA, the Australian Workers’ Union (AWU) and the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA), said it has written to the FWC to apply to have the matter re-listed.
“The Offshore Alliance is a member-led union and at mass meetings held in the last 24 hours members have resolved to recommence protected industrial action,” said OA spokesperson Brad Gandy in an email statement.
