LONDON (ICIS)–The ICIS Northwest Europe ammonia-to-hydrogen price regained most of the previous week’s losses during week 43 with ammonia pricing rising as demand is set to pick up in November.
The ammonia-to-hydrogen price saw a weekly increase of €0.29/kg to stand at €6.34/kg on 26 October, close to the seven-month high of €6.41/kg set on 12 October.
The ammonia-to-hydrogen price reflects the cost of importing fossil-based ammonia to northwest Europe and then decomposing that ammonia into hydrogen. The ammonia price referenced is the ICIS CFR Northwest Europe Duty Unpaid assessment, published every working Thursday.
Baseload electrolysis using Dutch front-month power prices posted strong losses for the second consecutive week to come in at €7.05/kg, down €0.60/kg on the week and over €1/kg lower than the price seen on 12 October.
As a result, baseload electrolysis held a €0.71/kg premium to the ammonia-to-hydrogen price, the lowest difference between the two in at least 12 months.
